Further development

My post for this week is short, I put most of the information onto my slides presentation, so this is, for the most part, just some talk about the process.

What I learnt this time around is that you should always double-check the size of the object you are working on before you get excited about a pattern you are making. The reason I'm putting this at the top is that when I was making my inner patterns, I had my work zoomed in far too much, which made me think I had more space to work with than I actually did have in reality. This tile did still turn out very nice, but some of the inner detail, specifically in the petals of the flower, I wanted cut out, but I ended up having to engrave them instead.

I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out what I wanted those patterns to be, so as I was working I kept making copies of the stuff I was working on, sort of like a clean slate, that way if there was something I didn't like, or if something didn't work, it was easy to get back to the previous copy and simply start the process over again. I also had to make extra copies of certain parts that I wanted to use on the actual pattern but had to modify.
The one thing that didn't work was that my cut lines were far too small to work on anything, while I was making them, I forgot that they were going to turn out far smaller than I thought they were going to be, so I talked to Peter and we ended up engraving the lines instead.
I have two other tiles that I also want to get done this week. I figured that if I was going to have multiple patterns, then I should just make a series with something that changed.
